This Privacy Policy is on behalf of GymNation LLC (UAE)/GymNation Sports Company (KSA)/G Y M Nation Management W.L.L (BHR) trading as GymNation.
References to ‘GymNation’ or ‘the App’ are references to GymNation LLC (UAE)/GymNation Sports Company (KSA)/G Y M Nation Management W.L.L (BHR) trading as GymNation, whose registered office is at Dubai, UAE, and to the GymNation mobile application that it operates. You can find out more about GymNation at www.gymnation.com.
This policy applies to the GymNation mobile application ("the App"), including its health, fitness, and conversational features. It does not apply to GymNation activities that are "offline" or otherwise unrelated to the App.
The App collects certain anonymous data regarding its usage. This information does not personally identify users, by itself or in combination with other information, and is gathered to improve the performance of the App. The anonymous data collected can include information such as the type of device you are using and the length of your session in the App.
You may also be asked to provide personally identifiable information in the App, which may include your name, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth, and gender. This information can be gathered when you contact us, register for services, or make purchases through the App.
Use and Disclosure of Information
We collect personally identifiable information from you when you become a member of GymNation. Such information may include your name, email address, phone number, date of birth and gender (“Members Details”). The lawful basis for this processing is to perform the contract of providing you with membership to GymNation, including amending or terminating the contract as necessary.
We will use this information for purposes including:
- processing and managing your membership and communicating with you;
- promoting new services of GymNation to you;
- promoting services of selected third parties and partners to you;
- managing requests made by you, including in relation to how we treat your data;
- responding to requests made by law enforcement authorities;
- for statistical purposes for improving the App and our services.
We may share your information within our group of companies and with our professional advisors as needed for the purposes of us running our businesses. We may also provide your contact information to our business partners and third parties who may contact you about their products and services.
Credit and Debit Card Details
Credit and debit card details and other similar financial information you provide during your membership sign-up process in the App will not be stored by GymNation, but will be passed by you to a third party service provider on that third party service provider’s form when you enter those details in the App. Please refer to the privacy policy of that third party service provider for details on how they collect and treat that information. Such information will not be stored, sold, shared, rented, or leased by GymNation to any third parties. GymNation may keep the first five (5) and/or last four (4) digits of your cards, in order for GymNation to analyse the type of cards being used by our clients, payment patterns and payment default patterns.
Medical Data
You may provide GymNation with certain medical related information, such as doctors’ notes or certificates, in order to suspend or cancel your membership with us. In such cases we may share copies of that information with some of our third party service providers in order to process the suspension or cancellation. The purpose of processing that information and sharing that data with third parties is solely to perform our contract for the provision of gym services to you.
Health and Fitness Data (Apple Health / HealthKit and Google Health Connect)
If you grant permission, the App reads certain health and fitness data from Apple's HealthKit framework on iOS devices and from Google Health Connect on Android devices. The App is read-only with respect to this data — GymNation does not write to, add to, or modify any entries in HealthKit or Health Connect.
The specific data types the App may read, where you have authorised them on your device, are:
- Activity — steps, distance, active calories burned, and exercise sessions / workouts
- Body measurements — weight, height, and body fat percentage
- Vitals — heart rate, blood pressure, and blood glucose
- Sleep — sleep duration from the previous night
- Hydration — water intake
- Nutrition — total calories and macronutrient / micronutrient intake
You can review and change these permissions at any time — on iOS in the Settings app or the Apple Health app, and on Android in the Health Connect app — and you can revoke them entirely.
We use this data solely to render the in-App Statistics dashboard and the weekly steps chart on the Home screen. We do not use this health and fitness data for any other purpose.
We want to be explicit about the following, which applies equally to data obtained through HealthKit and Health Connect:
- Your health and fitness data is read-only from the App's perspective. The App never writes to HealthKit or Health Connect.
- Your health and fitness data never leaves your device. The App reads it on-device, displays the resulting values on the Statistics screen and the Home weekly steps chart, and does not transmit, upload, copy, or back up this data to GymNation's servers or to any third party.
- Your health and fitness data is never used for advertising or any use-based data-mining purposes.
- Your health and fitness data is never sold, rented, shared, or otherwise disclosed to marketing, advertising, or analytics providers, or to any data brokers.
- Your health and fitness data is never shared with third parties for their own purposes.
- Your health and fitness data is not used to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
Because GymNation does not retain a copy of HealthKit or Health Connect data on its servers, there is no on-server retention period to disclose. Your data continues to live in the operating system-managed HealthKit or Health Connect store under your own control, where it is encrypted by the operating system. You can revoke the App's access at any time using the system settings, after which the App will no longer be able to read any further data.
Medical Disclaimer
GymNation is a fitness companion app and is not a medical device. The Statistics screen surfaces values that you have authorised the App to read from Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Google Health Connect (Android) — including step counts, distance, active calories, exercise sessions, heart rate, blood pressure, blood glucose, weight, height, body fat percentage, sleep, hydration and nutrition — for your own reference only.
The App does not interpret, analyse, or act on these values medically. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent any disease or medical condition, and it must not be relied upon as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional for any medical concern.
If your device or healthcare provider has flagged any of these readings as abnormal, please act on their advice — not on what is shown in the App.
In-App Chat and AI Assistant Conversations
The App may offer chat and AI assistant features (including in-App messaging and connected messaging channels) that let you ask questions, get support, and manage your membership. When you use these features, we process the messages you send. These conversations can sometimes contain health-adjacent information that you choose to share (for example, mentioning an injury, soreness, or a weight or fitness goal). We ask that you do not share sensitive medical information through these channels.
We want to be clear about how these conversations are handled:
- Where they are stored: conversations are stored on secure servers operated by or on behalf of GymNation, with access restricted to authorised personnel and service providers who help us operate the service.
- How long they are kept: conversations are retained for up to 12 months for support, quality, and record-keeping purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymised, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Model training: we use third-party AI providers to power some of these features. Your conversations are not used to train GymNation's or those providers' general-purpose AI models. We may use aggregated or de-identified data, which cannot reasonably be linked back to you, to monitor and improve the quality of the service.
- How to delete them: you can request deletion of your conversation history at any time by contacting us using the details in the "Corrections, Updates and Your Rights" section below.
International Transfers
Note that some of your personal data will be shared both within our organisation and with third parties that are outside of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
Such transfers are made:
- in accordance with the applicable data protection law either to a country that is recognised as having adequate protections that allow such transfers; or
- subject to an agreement between GymNation and the recipient that is recognised under the applicable data protection law as allowing for such data transfers; or
- for the purpose of entering into, or executing, the contract between you as a customer and GymNation.
Analytics and Device Identifiers
The App may use local storage and device or analytics identifiers to remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how the App is used. No advertising identifiers are used to track you across other apps or services without your consent.
GymNation may use non-personal "aggregated data" to enhance the operation of the App or to analyse how its features are used. Additionally, if you provide GymNation with content for publishing or feedback, we may display your user name or other identifying data with your permission.
GymNation may also disclose personally identifiable information in order to respond to a subpoena, court order or other such requests. GymNation may also provide such personally identifiable information in response to a law enforcement agency request or as otherwise required by law. Your personally identifiable information may be provided to a party if GymNation files for bankruptcy, or there is a transfer of the assets or ownership of GymNation in connection with proposed or consummated corporate reorganizations, such as mergers or acquisitions.
Security
GymNation takes appropriate steps to ensure data privacy and security including through various hardware and software methodologies. However, GymNation cannot guarantee the security of any information that is transmitted electronically.
Other Services and Links
GymNation is not responsible for the privacy policies of third-party services or websites that the App may link to or integrate with. If you provide any information to such third parties, different rules regarding the collection and use of your personal information may apply. We strongly suggest you review such third party’s privacy policies before providing any data to them. We are not responsible for the policies or practices of third parties.
Please be aware that the App may contain links to other services or websites that are owned and operated by third parties. The information practices of those third parties are not covered by this Policy. They may collect data or solicit personally identifiable information, and we cannot control this collection of information. You should contact these entities directly if you have any questions about their use of the information that they collect.
Minors
GymNation does not knowingly collect personal information from minors under the age of 18 (UAE)/16 (KSA and BHR). Minors are not permitted to use the App or its services, and GymNation requests that minors under the age of 18 (UAE)/16 (KSA and BHR) not submit any personal information through the App. Since information regarding such minors is not collected, GymNation does not knowingly distribute personal information regarding them.
Corrections, Updates and Your Rights
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or update it, to object to certain uses of it, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to request its deletion, subject to any legal obligations that require us to retain it. This includes the right to request deletion of your chat and AI assistant conversations. With respect to HealthKit and Health Connect data, GymNation does not retain a copy on its servers, so there is nothing on our side to delete — to revoke access or remove the data itself, use the Apple Health app, the iOS Settings app, or the Health Connect app on Android.
To exercise any of these rights, you can contact us at privacy@gymnation.com, through the App's support or help feature, or by visiting your nearest GymNation location. We will respond to your request within the period required by applicable law.
Modifications of the Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy and the Terms & Conditions may be changed or updated occasionally to meet evolving requirements and standards. Customers are therefore encouraged to review this policy in the App from time to time in order to stay informed about changes. Modifications will be effective on the day they are posted.
Except as otherwise stated above, we do not sell, trade, or rent your personally identifiable information to others.
